A New Freedom

Today is a milestone of sorts.
Today is Cooper's first full day of kindergarten. This means that Lucy, Max and Cooper are all out of the house for a full day of school and I am alone until I pick up the boys in the front of the school after 2:00.
I feel free. I feel like I can breathe. I feel like I can do whatever I want without any distraction. I can cry or write or read or fold clothes. So far I've done dishes and vacuumed and tidied up downstairs. I'm still in my pajamas, and the house is
quiet, and I am so happy.
How I will choose to fill this time of hard-earned freedom? I've signed up to volunteer in Max and Cooper's classes once a week, which shows some progress in my healing since I stopped volunteering after Joe died. Other than being at the school, I have no plans.
Will I miss eating lunch with Cooper? Will I miss his constant chatter? Will the quiet house begin to close in on me? Time will tell.
I think I will be just fine.
